The top-of-the-line Audi TT RS Coupe was marked by the German company as the first car of the production line using OLED taillights. Werner Thomas, Project Manager for Innovations at Audi confirmed during the LOPEC in April that they are ready to bring cars with OLED lighting to the mass market in 2016.
While BMW started to produce the M4 GTS with OLED lighting in a mini series of 700 units, the RS Coupe would be the first serially produced car using OLEDs. Audi has had some experiences with the subject. The manufacturer presented 3 OLED design studies 4 years ago and in 2013 showed off taillight prototypes for the Audi TT. Also concept cars like the Prologue (2014) and the e-tron Quattro (2015) used OLED displays and lights.
