Flexible and transparent 100% plastic OLED tiles were presented by Fraunhofer during the 2016 LOPEC in Munich.
As the most promising project we see the Nigh Fly tile that was produced as part of the project Flex+. 0.3mm thick and having a lime yellow emission colour, these flexible and transparent OLEDs have been processed on
In the video below, you can see Fraunhofer’s new transparent flexible OLED tiles.
The most interesting demonstrator is the “night fly”, whichwas developed as part of the Flex+ project. Those OLEDs (also flexible and transparent) are 0.3 mm thick and feature a new lime yellow emission color. The OLEDs in the “night fly” were processed on flexible substrates and were given a screen-printing as a graphical finish. The fly owes its 3D body to the combination with an additional film. The challenge of structural integrity was met by using slim conductors for electrical contacts that at the same time support the fly.
